2025 Public Education Summit

The CTF/FCE Public Education Summit will take place from April 9 to 11, 2025, at the Rogers Centre (formerly known as the Shaw Centre) in downtown Ottawa. This biennial event invites educators, advocates, policymakers, community members and leaders from across Canada to come together and chart a path forward for public education.

Under the theme “Mapping the Way

This event serves as a guide to navigating the challenges and opportunities that shape the future of education in Canada. As the only major CTF/FCE event open to the public, the Summit brings together a diverse community that includes:

  • CTF/FCE Member, Associate, and Partner Organizations: Teachers, educators, union leaders, and staff;
  • Academia: Researchers, scholars, and education professionals from colleges and universities;
  • Government representatives: Policymakers and leaders in the education and other public sectors;
  • Public education advocates and activists: Individuals and organizations committed to protecting and promoting publicly funded education;
  • Community members and leaders: Individuals interested in and committed to ensuring strong public education systems across the country.

This year’s program focuses on three critical points of interest shaping the public education landscape:

Artificial Intelligence

Exploring its impact on education, equity, and accessibility.

Privatization

Addressing threats to the integrity and sustainability of publicly funded education.

Violence in Schools

Identifying strategies to create safer, more supportive learning environments.

Guided by these topics, the Summit aims to provide avenues for:

  • Building a shared vision for a resilient and equitable public education system;
  • Fostering collaboration across sectors to advance the CTF/FCE’s strategic priorities;
  • Sharing actionable insights, best practices, and innovative solutions to strengthen public education;
  • Developing clear recommendations to ensure Canada’s schools remain of high quality, inclusive, safe, and publicly funded.

Join us in Ottawa as we collectively map the way forward for public education. Through thoughtful dialogue, collaborative problem-solving, and a shared commitment to equity and quality, this Summit will serve as a roadmap for safeguarding the future of education in Canada.

Keep an eye out for registration opening in January 2025.
