MEDIA ADVISORY -- Experiences of Aboriginal Teachers: Focus of New Study
A major study of the professional knowledge and experience of Aboriginal teachers in Canadian public schools will be released Wednesday, March 10, at a special Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) symposium on Aboriginal education. The study was commissioned by the CTF and its advisory committee on Aboriginal education and funded by the Canadian Council on Learning.

“Reality check” on women’s equality
OTTAWA – Labour and women’s groups have issued a report which they say is a “reality check” describing Canada’s lagging performance in achieving women’s equality. The report will be used at the Beijing +15 meeting at the United Nations in New York, March 1-12.

OTTAWA – Barbara Byers, Executive Vice-president of the Canadian Labour Congress, along with leaders of labour and women’s organizations will release a report on Monday, February 22 which they describe as a “reality check” on Canada’s lagging performance in achieving women’s equality. Byers and the others are delegates to the Beijing + 15 meeting being held at the United Nations in New York, March 1-12.

RCMP’s by-youth, for-youth crime prevention program launches new and improved website
Ottawa, ON – Feb. 11, 2010 – For DEAL.org, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s by-youth, for-youth crime prevention website, it’s out with the old and in with the new. The award-winning resource, which was created in 1997, has unveiled a revamped and redesigned site. “As a by-youth, for-youth initiative, we are uniquely qualified to act as a voice for young Canadians,” says Erin Mulvihill, acting manager of the RCMP’s Youth Engagement Section, which publishes DEAL.org. “Improving the site to better serve our target audience will allow us to continue to do that.”
